Description: Large 19th Century portrait of Isaac John Webb Horlock, oil on canvas. Unique half length portrait of Webb in fashionable Georgian attire and a distinct hairstyle. Similar to the dramatic style of portraiture of Lawrence during the period. Superb quality and excellent condition for its age. Though Horlock was an Anglican Clergyman his wife Phoebe was the daughter of the notorious British slaver Andreas Christian Boode from the sugar cane fields of Demerara in British Guiana. The Horlock family inherited a substantial wealth after they claimed Boodes estate. Measurements: 33" x 28" framed approx
