Description: One excellent, significant Victorian oil painting depicting a young woman named Sarah Sophia Wood, née Clark William Wood, 1801–1870. The stretcher's reverse bears the title, "Portrait of Mrs. George Wood, John Wood, 1857." On canvas, oil. mid-19th century; date 1857 written on verso. Exhibited in an exquisite original gilded gesso frame with exquisite fretwork, this picture is greatly enhanced and projected. Verso has an unsigned inscription by renowned British artist John Wood.
