Description: Large oil on canvas military picture by Walter Hutton, British, c. 1921, of Major H R Lawrence, 40th Pathans, Indian Army. A historical period portrait of the Major, wearing a white tunic and carrying a sword, with the Punjab mountains in the background, in excellent quality and condition. Ghandi's non-cooperation movement was gaining momentum at the time the portrait was taken, which was a pivotal point in India's history and independence. Framed, signed, and dated. Dimensions: approximately 47.5" x 37.5" when framed.
