Description: Large 19th-century British Victorian School painting of Matilda Currie, age 28, in a green dress, a white bonnet, and a lace scarf. Oil on canvas. Exceptional quality and one of a kind historical portrait of the young woman. "Matilda Currie (1804-1867)" is inscribed on the verso, and early ancestry research reveals that she was born in Scotland before immigrating to America (Toledo, Ohio), where she lived until the age of 63.
