Description: Fine 16th century French Old Master portrait of Jeanne III, Queen regent or Navarre, oil on panel. Rare and early depiction of the Queen regent in court attire by a French court painter circa 1550. Jeanne d"Albret married Antione De Bourbon to become the Duchess of Vendome. Her son Henri would be come Henri III King of Navarra and France, the first of the Bourbon Kings. Good clean condition with little evidence of over cleaning or restoration. Presented in a black ebonised frame. Authentication and identification by Arte Tres Gallery, France. Measurements: 45cm x 40cm framed approx
