One of two works by the same artist that we are selling, commissioned by the family provenance: by descent from the family, signed, dated, and inscribed in London: "Richard Ripley, Esqre. / D. VanderSmissen pinxit 1745 / Eldest son of Thomas Ripley, Esqre. / Comptroller of the Board of Works." Size: approximately 36" by 31" when framed.
