Description: Large circa 1708 Oil on canvas from the atelier of Sir Godfrey Kneller depicting Robert Walpole as Secretary at War. Three-quarter length portrait of the famous statesman who held the positions of Secretary at War, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Leader of the House of Commons, and de facto Prime Minister, in excellent condition and quality. Walpole is depicted wearing the traditional red cloak and decorative breastplate for the position of Secretary of War, which he held until 1710. With a reverse identification plaque. Approximate measurements: 52" x 44" when framed
