Three quarter length portrait of the courtier who rose to become one of the most influential women in the country through her close relationship with Queen Anne. Often painter by Kneller, here she is portrayed humbly in pious, low key attire usually worn for Church with a woodland beyond. Typical example of Knellers portraiture.
