Name: 19th Century American Portrait Of The Countess De La Rocca by Ana De CARRIE Year: 19th Century Size: 23" x 20" Medium: Oil Description: Portrait Of Countess De La Rocca, dated 1901 by Ana De Carrie (19th century American/Chilean) - The Work Was Exhibited at the Royal Academy no 1955 Fine l9th Century portrait of Countess De La Rocca, oil on canvas by Ana De Carrie. Superb turn of the century portrait of the young Countess in reflective pose. De Carrie was born in Chile later training France and exhibiting at the Paris Salon hence the Impressionist influence in her portraiture. She would later live and work in the US after 1910. Excellent original condition presented in an antique gilt frame. Signed. Exhibited: Royal Academy, London, 1901, no.1955Note: In Benezit, the artist is recorded as having been born in Coronel, Chile, a student of Benjamin Constant and of Franz von Lenbach, and exhibited at Le Salon des Artistes Francais between 1905 and 1923, awarded a third class medal in 1907.framed, in a gilded pressed-metal mounted Neoclassical frame, possibly American, late 18th/early 19th century.
