Description: Large 18th Century English portrait of British Member of Parliament, Abolitionist and Philanthropist, William Wilberforce (1759-1833) MP, oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition for its age of the young Wilberforce in a ceremonially decorated interior (the neck is emblazoned with "Freedom & Innocence"). Traditionally identified by Tayler & Fletcher and its provenance coms from the decedents of the Webb whose history traces back as slave owners at their sugar cane fields in Demerara. Framed. Measurements: 70cm x 65cm framed approx
