Description: Complete Marburger Hymn Book: for the introduction of the divine presence, found in 649 Christian and pagan Psalms and Hymns Hrn. D. Luther Martin. Additionally, another challenging teacher: well in XII. Theile is summarized, and with no unnecessary registers, a verzeichniss is added, under which the title of the songs found in the attachment is given: it also calls for the establishment of a private church service, with a reinforced morning, evening, buss, bedtime, and communion debate. Germantown, Pennsylvania: Printed and found by Christoph Saur, 1770. An exquisite piece from the renowned Saur family press, well-known for printing the first Bible printed in a European language in the New World. As previously mentioned, the older Sauer published the first Bible printed in America in a European language (1743). The "Gun-Wad Bible," which was used as cartridge paper during the Battle of Germantown in the American Revolutionary War, made Christoph II most famous. Another noteworthy fact about this Bible is that it was the first to be produced in America using typecast. Supposedly printed in a 3000 copy edition, the majority are said to have been destroyed by the British during the battle. This is a genuine piece of Americana from the same press, which was owned by the same man 6 years prior. The original PA German leather has 4 raised bands as shown in the spine, but there are no clasps. solidly attached, with slight wear on the binding. A little bit of foxing. printed using two columns.
