Description: William I Shayer (b. Southampton 1787 eller 1788, d. Shirley 1879): Rocky coast with seashell gatherers and their baskets. Signed and dated Wm. Shayer 18?? Oil on canvas. 48 x 66 cm. The frame is 6 cm. wide. In good condition, some crazing, minor old repair. Old text with the place name on the back. A painting by William Shayer I, was sold at Sotheby's in 1990 for $ 57,519.
