Description: Fine hige 17th Century Dutch Old Master view of Dutch merchant ships in a port at Sao Paolo, Brazil, oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition large scale early account of the Dutch colonisation of Brazil identified as Sao Paolo where Willaerts sailed to with the Governor or Dutch Possessions to in 1638, returning hoe in 1644. The view is distinctly similar to other works by Willaerts fro the period and his part historical account, part capriccio of the Brazils colonised ports and harbours. Framed and with label verso.
