Description: Wonderful English oil on canvas, Seascape with fishing boats at sea. This painting is attributed to the work of John Wilson Carmichael, In my opinion it is the work of the artist due to the quality, composition, style , brushwork etc and as I have owned many Carmichaels during my 30+ years of dealing the painting is unlike any other mid 19th century marine painter. His use oil silvery gray in the water and a bright blue sky, with gray clouds is one of the telling ways you can identify his work. For some unknown reason many 19th century painters did not sign their work and this is one such example. The painting is framed in an Antique English frame.
