Year: 19th Century Size: 95cm x 60cm Medium: Oil Description: Fine large 19th Century view of ships in a storm off a harbour near the Isle Of Man, oil on canvas by William Edward Webb. Large scale and finely detailed example of Webb's painting depicting a ships crew struggling amid a storm off the coast with a paddler beyond and a harbour in the far distance. Webb predominantly painted maritime scenes of Guernsey and the Isle of Man during the late 19th century and his paintings are early historical accounts of these regions as well as coastal life during the period.
