Description: 1 Decorative British Southern Railway Original Enamel Target Sign From Dover Priory Train Station, about 1940. This is your chance to take home this exceptional and highly collectible sign. An astounding 84 centimeter wide and 33 cm high size. The majority of Southern Railway stations had green and white enamel target signs fixed on lampposts; the unflanged signs were mounted on a wooden back board down the middle of the sign, which was then fastened to the post or station structures. Source cited is railwayana. late 1940s until mid-1900s. Made with a hardwood board and enamel on a metal back.
