Description: Oil on canvas, by Bonaventura Peeters, large Dutch Old Master painting of military and fishing ships stranded in a storm off a rocky coast. Superb, early, and significant leading example of the artist's work as figures stand on the cliffs and watch as several ships struggle to get away from the dangerous rocks. It is typical of Peeters' best work to treat clouds, light, and water exceptionally. We can quickly and inexpensively fix the minor tear on the top left. Featuring plaque inscriptions and artist labels on the back, presented in an antique gold frame. Dimensions: approx. 37" x 32.5" framed
