Description: large 19th-century London That painting is an oil on canvas by George Vicat Cole of a guy watching a professional rower scull down a river. Rare early sporting scene of exceptional quality and condition with rowing. Dated and signed in 1887. Vicat Cole lived in London for the majority of his life despite being one of the most prominent English landscape painters with works displayed at the Royal Academy. This piece, named "sketch," was probably of personal interest to the artist and was most likely created in the Greenwich vicinity at the time. Framed. Size: about 38" x 27" framed
