Description: Early 19th century maritime scene from Battle Of The Nile, 1798 attributed to Thomas Buttersworth, Superb early historical account of the famous battle at night from the 3rd August 1798 between the French and British navy along the Nile Delta that raged across the Mediterranean coast for three days. Typical of Buttersworth's maritime paintings from the period who produced various scenes of the battle including those involving smaller warships as scene in this composition. Framed and in good condition for its age, one small scuff. Measurements: 70cm x 50cm framed approx
