Description: Large English country landscape near a brook in the 19th century, painted by Frederick Richard Lee in oil on canvas. Lee was a natural successor to Constable and painted prolifically throughout the English countryside. This landscape picture is in excellent quality and condition. displayed in its original antique gilded frame with a signature. Old artists label by Lee, verso; somewhat illegible, but probably "Brook, Barnstaple". One of the most substantial examples of the artist's work was apparently painted for display.
