Description: Fine large 19th century history painting of the Death Of Francisco Pizzaro, oil on canvas by Marie-Auguste de Saunhac. Excellent quality and condition example of the artists work and rare piece of history painting depicting the death of the famous Conquistador during the Conquest of Peru. The scene shows the moment Pizarro's assassination in 1541 when his palace was stormed by supporters of Diego de Almagro II. The scene is beautifully painted with individual faces and expression on each figure individually depressed in the bright attire of the Conquistadors. Signed and framed. Measurements: 112cm x 75cm framed approx
