Description: Sir Peyton Ventris Savoy's Reports; 1726 Associated with: A Table Outlining the Main Arguments and Discussion Points in the First Section of These Reports Page: Excellent interior condition, measuring 8 by 12.5"; original full calf binding is damaged; covers are missing or nearly separated, hanging on cords written in English In 1664, Sir Peyton Ventris (1645–1661) enrolled in the Middle Temple, and in 1671, he received his bar admission. Following the Revolution of 1688, he gained notoriety by advancing to the rank of serjeant-at-law, justice of the Court of Common Pleas, and knighthood in 1689. With "but few of the cases censured," Ventris' compilation of reports, which spans cases from 1668 to 1691, has "generally been considered to be of good authority" and "endures as among the most important written during the Restoration."
