Description: Large 18th Century English depiction of The Infant Jupiter, oil on canvas. Early and important work depicting the infant Jupiter sat at the base of a rock looking back at the view guarded by the eagle and accompanied by the goat whilst clutching his lightning bolts. Reynolds produced several version of the composition one of which was destroyed by fire in 1816. There is a large accumulation of stained varnish that will reveal the natural pigments and enhanced detail once professionally cleaned. It is also still housed in its original handmade antique gilt frame. Good original condition. Measurements: 39" x 34" framed approx
