Description: Large 16th century Netherlandish depiction of the Nativity, oil on panel from the workshop of Joos Van Winghe. Rare early Flemish scene of the Nativity of the newborn Christ asleep in a blanket accompanied by the Virgin and Jospeh. Will enhance significantly with a professional clean if desired. Framed. Measurements: 34" x 28" framed approx. Notes: The composition comes from a Raphael Sadeler engraving that came from a lost work by Van Winghe before that. The panel bears the clover leaf stamp from Royal Academy Of Arts Antwerp panel maker Michiel Claessens
