Description: One excellent battle portrait from the 19th century, "The Wounded Greek," is attributed to Abraham Cooper RA. Portrait of a fallen Greek soldier who is being attended to by two women, one kneeling at his right side to support his head and the other standing to the left holding the reins of the horse in the background. The soldier is holding his curved sword in his right hand and is lying on the ground next to his hat. Further back, his horse, which is wearing a lovely ornamental saddle, is standing straight in side profile, seeming worried and waiting. You may see a portion of an old marble temple structure to the right. Running horses and additional warrior figures may be seen in the backdrop to the left in the distance, along with a gray sky overhead. on a canvas, oil. The Wounded Greek is the title. Unsigned.
