Description: Fine large 19th century nature study of a tiger attacking a buffalo, oil on canvas. Excellent quality study of the tiger overpowering the buffalo from the long grass as it waters by the rivers edge. Exceptional detail and example of the artists work. Unsigned but recorded in the artists raisonne as painted in 1853 then later catalogued by Musee des Augustines Toulouse in 1862. Original unrestored condition. Presented in an antique gilt frame with some damage. Measurements: 105cm x 85cm framed approx
