Large-scale, full-length Venetian tableau from around 1580 in which a besotted Venus warns Adonis not to go hunting after her dream foretells his demise. Typically sad parable of love and death, masterfully painted by Veronese or one of his studio associates. Encased. Origin: London-based private Old Masters collection and deceased estate Size: about 56" by 46" when framed
