Description: Oil on canvas, signed, wide-angle view of a man in a misty setting from the 19th century. Preliminary drawing in excellent condition, dated "182?" and signed bottom right "J Constable". The signature is authentic to the painting, according to a UV inspection. Excellent illustration of the artist's work, who throughout his active period produced an enormous volume of preliminary sketches. The piece would benefit from additional research and formal verification because it is new to the market and was inherited from a private estate. displayed inside a vintage gilded frame.
