Description: hige fine Dutch Old Master oil on canvas painting from the 17th century depicting Dutch trade ships in a harbor in Sao Paolo, Brazil. high caliber and condition Sao Paulo, where Willaerts sailed in 1638 with the Governor of the Dutch Possessions before returning in 1644, is mentioned in a substantial early account of the Dutch colonization of Brazil. The perspective is clearly reminiscent of other works by Willaerts from the time period, including his historical description and capriccio of the colonized ports and harbors in Brazil. Framed with a label on the back.
