Description: Excellent huge Dutch Old Master painting from the 17th century, depicting a harbor in Sao Paolo, Brazil, with Dutch commerce ships. Outstanding caliber and state extensive early report on the Dutch colonization of Brazil, which was based on Sao Paolo, which Willaerts visited in 1638 along with the Governor of the Dutch Possessions and returned to in 1644. The perspective bears a striking resemblance to previous works from the same period by Willaerts, who combined a historical narration and a portrait of Brazil's colonized ports and harbors. framed and labeled on the back.
