Year: 18th century
Size: 48" x 33"
Medium: Oil
Description: Oil on canvas by William Marlow, a fine big view of Westminster Bridge from the Thames from the 18th century. A wide-ranging image of the Thames, including the boats cruising on its waters and Westminster's distinctive architecture in the background. The serene waterways and the buildings' meticulous finishing are depicted in exquisite detail, and they are all set against the broad, cloud-filled sky that is typical of Mallows' paintings from the era. Unsigned, as with most works from the era, but the style is distinctive, and there is a plaque to go with it on the frame. An exceptional early London view by a renowned painter on the subject in very good shape. Dimensions: 48 x 33 framed
