Description: A cockerel in a farmyard is the subject of a finely scaled 18th-century English oil painting on canvas. Rare early farm bird study of outstanding quality that is undamaged and in superb condition. Very likely painted by Sartorius, who also captured a prized fighting cock owned by George Wyndham, Earl of Egremont, dubbed "Dauntless" in 1777. This research could be one of the Earl's favorite species of bird. after which a fake plaque was added. About 70 by 60 cm when framed.
