Year: 17th century Size: 120 x 94 x 5 cm Medium: Oil on canvas Description: Extraordinary work of the Castilian Baroque, O / L, School of Valladolid, SXVII, workshop of Diego Valentín Diaz. With a great balance in the presentation of the scene, the exquisite and enriched mantle of the Virgin stands out. Origin: private collection of Tordesillas, Valladolid. The baroque oil depicts a religious image with a Marian theme. There is a very fine and heavenly representation of Mary Immaculate. The Virgin is presented richly attired with a mantle that is probably the aesthetic protagonist of the scene. With a downcast gaze and almond-shaped eyes, her immaculate pale face conveys a calm peace of great feeling that moves and leads to devotion. The imprint of this Immaculate Conception is impeccable and of great quality. Its creation belongs to the first third of the seventeenth century. The authorship is closely linked to the stele left by the famous Valladolid baroque artist Diego Valentín Díaz. This can be seen in the richness of the ornaments, in the detail of the jewelry finishes on the clothes and in the purely Baroque artistic imprint of the 17th century Castilian circle. The work comes from a private collection of a great personality linked to Tordesillas. The canvas is preserved in excellent condition in relation to its age. It is worth mentioning that this was altered, cutting out the lower part where the dragon and the half moon can be seen due to a break that suffered last century.
