Persii Flacci Satyrarum liber I Lugduni (Lyon): Attached to: Andreae Frusii, Societatis Iesu Poemata: quaedam pridem, quædam nunc primùm in lucem edita: huic editioni adiectus est rerum, & verborum epigrammatum index Lugduni (Lyon): Jean Pillehotte, apud Ioannem Pillehote; 1594 The Jesuit mark is displayed on both titles. The satyrs of Juvenal (in five books) and Persii (six satyrs) are included in the first book. The second Andreae Frusii "Poemata" (in Latin: Andreas Frusius), a French Jesuit priest, author, and well-known humanist, was born in Chartres, France, in 1515 and passed away in Rome on October 26, 1556. close associate of the first Jesuit, Ignatius of Loyola, whose writings were published. Verse about heresies, Luther, Erasmus, etc. Manuscript title label on the spine of a reversible calf binding. Strict, the leather tattered. The inside is in decent shape, with the exception of a dampstain on about 65 pages, some of which are toward the beginning and some toward the conclusion, and some toning. Dimensions: 3 by 4 3/4".
