Engraved frontispiece included. 779 pages, 16 leaves, and 18 leaves Binding using Vellum Excellent condition save for the vellum's soiling and the spine's damaged top edge. The front endpapers are damaged. Dimensions: 4 by 6 3/4"; Latin writing on the spine with a manuscript title Being a member of an Orientalist family, Johannes Buxtorf (Latin: Johannes Buxtorfius) (1564–1629) was a renowned Hebraist and professor of Hebrew at Basel for 39 years. He was referred to as the "Master of the Rabbis". His enormous work, De Synagoga Judaica (1st ed., 1603), meticulously records early modern German Jewish life and traditions.
