(1672–1757), wrote the text in Latin. In addition to being a smart man, Calmet was a monk and one of the most illustrious members of the Congregation of St. Vanne. He was made a prior of Lay-Saint-Christophe in 1715, an abbot of St.-Léopold at Nancy in 1718, and a prior of Senones Abbey in 1729 as a result of these accomplishments. He was given the title of Abbot General of the community twice. Although Pope Benedict XIII wanted to give him the title of bishop, he was too humble to accept the position.
