Complete vellum 130 pages, including an index and addenda Greek and Latin text Though he was born in Samosata, in the Roman province of Syria, Lucian is most remembered for his around eighty sarcastic prose pieces, which he wrote in Greek and published in a variety of formats, including essays, prose fiction, and dialogues. During his lifetime, his writings were highly well-liked, and during the Renaissance, they were resurrected. They survived multiple translations into Latin and were first printed in 1470. He enjoyed the same level of fame as more well-known writers like Plato, and many writers, including Erasmus, Rabelais, and Thomas More, were influenced by his writings. This work is an exact replica of his Ψευδoσοφιστζς ἢ Σολοικιστζς (Pseudosophistes e solokistes), a treatise on grammatical faults or solecisms. This work's first independent edition was this one. translated into Latin from the original Greek.The renowned German classics scholar Johann Georg Graeve served as both the translator and the commentator.
