Pauli Burgensis replicisque Matthiae Doering Hieronymi et additionbus. Four volume Complete Latin Bible with Nicholas of Lyra's commentary: one volume from Franz Renner's Venice-produced edition issued in 1482/83 and three volumes from the Koberger edition printed in 1485. The first Latin bible with illustrations is this Koberger edition. The Koberger print of Postilla Nicolaus' de Lyra, dated January 22, 1481, is the source of volume 1's 28 woodcuts, which are the oldest pictures in the print shop. They show schematic representations of the ark of the covenant, the big candlestick, the tablets of law, the high priests, the temple, floor plans, etc. Gothic design, Two columns with smaller-type comments surrounding the text Many initials painted in red and blue, with initials in gold and other hues There is some marginal dampstaining in certain areas, worming to the Renner volume that is primarily marginal, occasional worm holes to other volumes, and a few damaged margin corners. Most of the pages are clear and sharp and in excellent condition. The folio measures 9 by 13 inches and has blindtooled calf bindings over wooden boards. The bindings are partially different, with 15 (of 32) brass corner fittings and 6 (of 8) brass center pieces. The spine is damaged and overpainted with paint. All volumes have ownership inscriptions from the Jesuit College in Burghausen, Upper Bavaria, dating back to the 17th century. The New Testament with a few old-hand marginalia mentioning Luther, matching the endpaper with the original entry: "Si Lira non lirasset Lutherus non dictasset" .
