Description: a single Victorian-era collectible Claret Wine in Amber Glass with Silver Plate After Alexander Crichton, a brandy decanter. akin to Alexander Crichton's Victorian style. Alexander Crichton, who was among the best silversmiths in London, was born in Edinburgh in 1839. Crichton created the whimsical animal claret jugs for which he is well known during this brief time. Between 1881 and 1882, he produced more than 34 silver and glass claret jugs. Some of the greatest English silver from the time displays Crichton's whimsy, which is claimed to have been inspired by Sir John Tenniel's illustrations for Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Full of personality in the shape of a fish.
