Description: 1 Extraordinary George III English Sterling Gilded Finest 925 Silver Baluster Mug Tankard from the 18th century Through John Langlands Dated 1774. Completely hallmarked with Newcastle & silversmith manufacturer John Langlands' English silver hallmarks. A silver cup made in Newcastle during the reign of George III, with a baluster shape to a spread circular foot, a tongue-capped scroll handle, and afterwards chased floral ornamentation all around a blank scrolled cartouche. John Langlands I, Newcastle 1774, on the hallmark. 10.78 ozt (335.2 grams) of excellent heavy weight. The chased sunflower, foliage, branches, vines, and scrolling garland cartouche decorations, with a superb gilded inside, are a highlight that sticks out.
