Two massive folios measuring 9.5 by 15" and containing [4]-960-[34], [120]-758-[28] pp. - First French edition translated by Jean des Moulins, which was based on the first Latin edition published in 1586–1587 by the French physician and botanist J. Dalechamps (1513–1588). Several illustrations are included in the text. Comprising all the botanical knowledge known at the time.
With woodcut devices on titles, titles in red and black, references to Nissen (BBI) 447, Stafleu & Cowan 1297, Pritzel 2035, BnF, and a provenance of "Jean Claude Lavaivre de Rigny" (manuscript entry on flyleaf) describe about 2731 plants and much of the peculiar botany of the region around Lyon.
