Description: Superb oil on panel portrait of Jeanne III, Queen Regent of Navarre, by a French Old Master from the 16th century. An uncommon and early 1550 painting by a French court painter depicting the Queen Regent dressed for court. Jeanne d'Albret became the Duchess of Vendome after she wed Antione de Bourbon. Her son Henry would grow up to become Henri III, the first of the Bourbon Monarchs and king of Navarra and France. With little sign of over-cleaning or restoration, in good clean condition. presented in a frame made of black ebony. Identification and authentication by the French gallery Arte Tres.
