Description: Large oil on canvas study by Arthur Wardle from the 19th century depicts a labrador retriever puppy sneaking up on a fox hound. A superb example of the famed sporting and animal artists' work in both quality and condition. Since coming from the estate of a family who bought the painting directly from the artist's workshop, this is the first time it has been made publicly available. Its sale is listed among many other pieces the family bought from Wardle directly, probably scenes of their own dogs that they commissioned from Wardle. Framed.
