Description: Scottish Highland landscape scene with English Setter gun dogs, the day's bag, and Red Grouse, after a day shooting.This scene is often called 'The Day's Bag', a term to describe a scene of dogs, horses or ponies, and the animals that have been collected by a Gillie or boy who would have acted as an attendant on a hunting expedition in the wild landscape of the Highlands of Scotland. Sometimes the artist would include the Gillie as well in the painting. This piece is an exceptional example of the artist's work, both in size and also in quality and composition. The piece has been framed in a hand made English giltwood Sporting pattern frame.
