Year: 17th Century
Size: 16 x 22 in
Medium: Oil
Description: 17th century English/Dutch School, in the manner of Sir Peter Paul Rubens A very interesting and well-painted 17th-century oil on canvas of two men seated on horseback in a landscape. The painting has a great decorative appeal with both horses and riders being well painted. The piece has an 18th-century hand-carved wooden frame that was made in England, so the piece might well be English rather than Dutch. The style is similar to the work of Rubens, but it does not seem to be a copy of any known painting by that artist. It came from a private collection in the UK and has been recently lightly cleaned and re-varnished.
