Description: enormous around 1900 Oil on canvas depicting a symbolic scene from Goethe's work The Erlkönig. The scene depicting the King of the Fairies trying to steal the boy away from his father as they start to leave the enchanted forest is of excellent quality and condition. An odd piece typical of the era's paintings by Jan Toroop.displayed within a fine gilded architectural frame. Size: approximately 63" by 51" when framed.
